Video poker is slot machine game based on five-card draw poker. After inserting money into the machine, play begins by placing a bet of one or more credits and pressing the deal button. The player then receives five cards and gets the choice of discarding on or more of them in exchange for new ones drawn from the same deck. The combinations that arise after this deal count towards payment, only winning combinations will get you a return corresponding to the game pay out table.

The most popular variation is Jacks or better, indicating a payof beginning at a pair of jacks. The house edge is relatively low in this game (payouts range from 98.4% to 99.5%) and even can be positive when playing a progressive jackpot game.
Although it’s a gambling game there is some level of skill involved. Good players will know which cards to discard when drawing and know the odds of drawing to winning combinations.
